Programming Across Our Clubs

At our Fox Point, and South Side Clubhouses, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence feature indoor, heated, 25-yard pools, each 10+ feet deep at our deep and with diving blocks at our Fox Point Clubhouse. Our Wanskuck clubhouse has a smaller pool 3,4 feet deep. Under the watchful eye of trained and certified lifeguards and swimming instructors, parents have the comfort of knowing their children are safe and learning to swim at their own pace. Recreational swim is incorporated into Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence summer camps, after-school, and teen programs, and members at sites without pool facilities are offered free transportation to South Side, Wanskuck, and Fox Point. Swim lessons, as well as American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, and Life guarding courses are also offered during select times of year at at least one of our Clubhouses. Our pool facilities include changing areas, lockers, and showers, and our pools are open year-round!

Swim Team

We are happy to start Swim Team Practice on October 10th 2023.

Here at the Providence Boys and Girls Clubs, we are proud of all the work and effort the Aquatics Team puts in to provide a high quality Swim Team Program, at an affordable cost. We have dedicated Coaches with decades of experience both in the water as competitive swimmers, and out of the water as award winning coaches (We even have an RI Aquatics Hall of Famer!).

Our Head Coach, Jeff-RI Aquatics Hall of Famer works alongside our Aquatics Director, Tiasa, our Coordinator of Aquatic Programming, Jackson, and our technical coach, Doug to bring a competitive and positive experience for swimmers ranging in ages from 6 years old up to 18 years old. The Riptides are excited to be able to say, we have 10 RIMA Swim League Championships, winning the last 9 RIMA Championships in 10 years and going for the 10th in a row this year! We also take a group of qualifying swimmers down to St. Petersburg, Florida in April!

Coach Jeff always says, ‘Whether your swimmer is just here to be part of a team, and have fun or wants to be a state champion, there’s a lane for them on the Riptides.’

What you need to know:

    • All practices will be held at our Fox Point Clubhouse. We may be required to utilize the South Side Clubhouse pool if we can’t fit everyone in comfortably at Fox Point and we get to a point where our numbers are hurting the quality of the practice.
    • We Practice 5 days a week, Monday through Thursday being endurance and preparing for meets. Fridays we bring our practices together, to allow our younger and older swimmers to come together through team bonding and mentoring while focusing on things like Dives, Flip turns and stroke development.
    • First Practice: 12& under along with any new swimmers will start first practice at 5p and finish up at 6p
    • Second Practice: 13 and over swimmers starts at 6pm & ends at 7:30pm
    • If your child is a returner and normally practiced with first or second practice, they’ll continue to practice with the same group to start off. We will move kids (new and returning) up to second practice as we see their abilities improve.
    • Parents and family are welcome to come in and watch but, it is not a requirement that parents/guardians be present during practice.
    • Swimmers have access to changing facilities and showers but are encouraged to come ready to swim to save time and avoid high traffic in locker rooms at the start of practices.
  • As of October 2023, Men’s locker room is closed
  • Parents are never allowed in locker room or changing rooms
  • Price- $30 Yearly Membership
    • $250 For swim team (Payment Plans Available Upon Request)
